ANR : Pour les gens qui ne vous connaissent pas encore, pouvez-vous nous présenter NILE ?
Karl : Salut, Mon nom est Karl de NILE. Nous sommes NILE, un groupe de Death Metal Brutal. Et si c’est tout nouveau pour vous, je me demande alors sur quelle planète vous avez vécu.
ANR : Vous sortez un nouvel album en juin « At the Gate of Sethu ». Votre album parle des Egyptiens et des civilisations anciennes, comment est arrivée cette passion sur de tel sujet?
Karl : Surement de mon enfance. Depuis lors, c’est devenu un de mes centres d’intérêt, et une source d’inspiration pour écrire des chansons dans le groupe.
ANR : Il y a un peu plus d’un an vous avez commencé a bosser avec votre nouveau Basiste Todd Ellis, quelle a été sa contribution dans cet album? Comment s’est passé son intégration?
Karl : Todd est avec nous depuis 2 mois seulement, il n’a pas joué la basse sur « At the Gate of Sethu »; Todd est un joueur de session live pour jouer en tournée.
ANR : Planifiez-vous de jouer en France cette année ?
Karl : C’est sûr, Nous participerons a une tournee en novembre décembre avec Kreator , Morbid Angel et Nile . 7 semaines, à travers l’Europe, ce qui veut dire plusieurs dates en France.
ANR : Apres presque 20 ans sur la scène death metal, comment jugez-vous l’évolution de ce style musical?
Karl : Ce n’est plus le même style musical, rien à voir, et ce n’est plus le même business sur ce sujet.
En 20 ans de temps j’ai été témoin de la naissance d’internet, et de ses conséquences, la destruction du Metal Underground, l’augmentation du téléchargement illégal et la décimation de l’industrie musical en résultat, et le viol du potentiel gain des musiciens de metal en tournée par le déclin de l’économie mondial, le chômage endémique, et l’augmentation du prix du pétrole. Tristement, avec la lente agonie de l’industrie du death metal, j’ai aussi été témoin de la coexistence de l’effondrement du journalisme Metal. c’est un nouveau monde brutal chaotique et cruel mes amis, donc soyez et restez Metal
ANR : Quels groupes écoutez-vous?
Karl : Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye , James Brown et Immolation .
ANR : Pouvez-vous me décrire votre univers musical en 5 mots ?
Karl : Stay Brutal or Fucking Die !
ANR : En plus de la musique, avez-vous d’autres talents artistiques?
Karl : Les arts martiaux, Je suis ceinture noire en Tae Kwon Do. Kiiiiiiyyyyyaaaa !

ANR : You are releasing a new album in June « At the Gate of Sethu »
Your albums talk about egyptian and antic civilizations.
How did you get this passion for those topics ?
Probably from early childhood .Since then it has become a casual personal interest of mine , and a source of inspiration for songwriting in this band .
ANR : More than a year you started to work with your new bassist Todd Ellis, what was his contribution to this album ?
How was his integration in the band ?
Karl : Todd has been with us for only two months. He did not play bass on « At the Gate of Sethu » ; Todd is a live session player for touring purposes .
ANR : Do you plan to play in France this year ?
Karl : You betcha. We will be participating in a Nov Dec Tour with Kreator , Morbid Angel and Nile .7 weeks , all across Europe- which will of course include multiple dates in France .
ANR : After almot 20 years in death metal scene, how do you judge the evolution of this musical genre ?
Karl : It is not the same Musical genre anymore. Not even close. And its not the same music business anymore , for that matter .
In twenty years time I have witnessed the birth of the internet – and its consequence -the destruction of the Metal Underground , the rise of illegal downloading and its resultant decimation of the music industry , and the raping of the earning potential of the metal touring musician by world-wide delining economies , rampant unemployment , and rising gas prices . Sadly , with the slow agonizing death of the music industry , I have also witnessed the co-existent demise of Metal Journalism as well . Its a cruel chaotic Brutal new world , my friends. So Be – and Stay made of Metal !
